Fortinet, the global cybersecurity leader, has unveiled a groundbreaking independent analysis showcasing the remarkable cost savings and business advantages of deploying FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) and FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services within enterprise data centers. The study, conducted by Forrester Consulting, reveals that organizations can achieve an unprecedented 318% return on investment (ROI) over three years, with a payback period of just six months.

John Maddison, Fortinet’s CMO and EVP of Product Strategy, expressed confidence in the study’s findings, stating, “Fortinet is proven in the data center, delivering cutting-edge security and energy-efficient performance to today’s largest enterprise organizations. We believe the new Forrester Total Economic Impact™ study highlights what customers have said for years: The powerful combination of FortiGate NGFWs and FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services not only strengthens security across the entire enterprise but also delivers incredible return on investment.”

The study aggregated customer feedback to form a composite organization with an annual revenue of $2.5 billion, over 15,000 employees, and at least three data centers. The key findings of the Forrester study included:

  1. 318% ROI and six months payback: Deploying FortiGate NGFWs alongside FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services resulted in an impressive 318% ROI over three years, with payback achieved in less than six months. This translated to over $8 million in net benefits.
  2. 90% reduction in manual update time: FortiGate NGFWs’ user-friendly deployment and management capabilities led to a 90% reduction in networking teams’ time spent on manual updates and fixes. Additionally, powerful automation led to a 50% decrease in device reimaging and a 95% reduction in ancillary device connections.
  3. 40% savings compared to previous NGFW solutions: By converging networking and security, FortiGate solutions enabled customers to streamline their data center protection, resulting in a cost reduction of 40% when compared to previous NGFW solutions.

Fortinet also unveiled its commitment to data center security with the introduction of two new NGFW appliances: the FortiGate 3200F and the FortiGate 900G. The FortiGate 3200F, designed for hyperscale data centers, boasts 380 Gbps of firewall throughput and 400GE interfaces, all while consuming 72% less energy than competitors. On the other hand, the FortiGate 900G provides 20 Gbps of threat protection in a compact form factor suitable for enterprise environments.

The company’s efforts in converging networking and security have garnered recognition and support from third-party analysts, including being positioned as a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls and the 2022 Forrester Wave: Enterprise Firewalls report. CyberRatings.org has also given FortiGate NGFWs a “Recommended” rating.

FortiGate NGFWs, utilizing the FortiOS operating system and FortiManager unified management console, extend AI-powered security across all NGFWs within a hybrid environment, covering on-premises, cloud, and virtual machines. This approach enables an ideal fit for a hybrid mesh firewall architecture, coordinating policies across firewalls for a comprehensive security posture. FortiGate NGFWs are readily available through FortiFlex, Fortinet’s usage-based licensing program.

Joseph Neumann, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer of Digital Realty, expressed his satisfaction with Fortinet’s offerings, stating, “Fortinet made deploying and managing next-gen firewalls across our on-premises, cloud, and virtual environments simple. With FortiManager, we can view performance, unify policies, and ensure our NGFWs are sharing threat information via a single pane of glass. We’re excited to continue working with Fortinet on our hybrid mesh firewall architecture and the overall security posture of our entire network.”

Fortinet’s latest study reinforces the company’s status as a pioneering force in data center security and sets a new industry standard for return on investment, ease of use, and performance. As organizations worldwide seek reliable and efficient cybersecurity solutions, Fortinet’s comprehensive approach appears to be the answer to their needs.
