
In a strategic move to bolster its leadership in the digital finance transformation sector, BlackLine, Inc., a front-runner in cloud-based accounting and finance solutions, has announced the appointment of Sumit Johar as the company’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Effective from February 12th, Johar’s role will encompass the oversight of global Information Technology and Information Security, under the direct report to Co-CEO Therese Tucker.
Johar’s arrival marks a significant milestone for BlackLine, aligning with the company’s vision of embedding innovation and a competitive advantage into its global business operations through his vast experience in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and intelligent automation. Tucker expressed confidence in Johar’s capabilities, emphasizing his alignment with the company’s vision and his potential to accelerate BlackLine’s digital transformation and operational scalability. This strategic hire aims to fortify BlackLine’s commitment to serving the Office of the CFO with unparalleled accounting and finance platform services.
With over two decades of experience in enterprise cloud technology, Johar brings a wealth of knowledge in applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, engineering, and automation to BlackLine. His recent tenure as CIO at Automation Anywhere showcased his prowess in leveraging AI-powered intelligent automation solutions. Johar’s career highlights also include impactful roles at MobileIron, where he significantly cut operational costs while fostering digital transformation initiatives, and a decade of leadership in Enterprise Applications at TIBCO Software. His early career saw him in consulting and engineering positions at esteemed firms Wipro and Infosys.
Johar expressed enthusiasm about leveraging generative AI and other emerging technologies to elevate BlackLine’s IT infrastructure, business intelligence, and applications. He is poised to harness leading-edge AI and automation technologies to enhance the global workforce’s performance, thereby reinforcing BlackLine’s dominance in the digital finance transformation arena.
Holding a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, Johar’s academic background complements his extensive professional experience, positioning him as a key player in driving BlackLine’s future successes in the digital finance transformation landscape.
