Discover Schneider Electric’s pivotal role in driving global sustainability at COP28. From cutting-edge technology to strategic partnerships, witness their commitment to a more inclusive, eco-conscious future.
Schneider Electric, a prominent advocate for the digital evolution in energy management and automation, is urging a united effort towards global decarbonization. They emphasize the need for an equitable transition to achieve net-zero emissions and are outlining their contributions at the upcoming COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference.
This pivotal event, scheduled from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai, will convene governmental representatives, private-sector leaders, climate experts, NGOs, youth groups, and stakeholders to foster collaboration. The primary focus includes discussions on addressing climate change challenges and evaluating progress since the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement through the inaugural Global Stocktake.
Recognizing that energy production contributes to over 70% of carbon emissions, Schneider Electric plans to highlight the unexplored possibilities within electrification, automation, and digital technologies. Their aim is to showcase how deploying these solutions across industries, buildings, homes, data centers, infrastructure, and transportation can yield social, economic, and environmental benefits.
Peter Herweck, CEO of Schneider Electric, emphasizes the urgency, stating, “We possess abundant technologies that, if deployed rapidly and extensively, can bring about social, environmental, economic benefits and job creation while swiftly reducing emissions and costs. Inaction is not an option.”
During COP28, Schneider Electric will lead discussions and present solutions at the Technology & Innovation Hub. Their participation spans panel discussions on corporate decarbonization, youth empowerment, and supply chain engagement. Moreover, they plan to:
- Release location-specific insights on expediting decarbonization, building upon their Back to 2050 research.
- Extend partnerships through the Schneider Electric Foundation to support education and training for younger generations and women in the energy sector.
- Unveil new strategic partnerships and initiatives aimed at broadening their supply chain’s decarbonization. Additionally, they will launch a report on supply chain decarbonization, created in collaboration with Women Action Sustainability (WAS).
Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman of Schneider Electric, stresses the necessity for advancing energy efficiency and accessible clean energy as the world’s population and economies expand. He highlights digitization technologies leveraging IoT, big data, AI, and low-carbon electrification as crucial disruptors in reshaping our relationship with energy. Tricoire emphasizes the urgency for accelerated adoption of these technologies and innovative approaches to collectively drive inclusive climate action.
Tricoire concludes by stating that impact-driven companies, including Schneider Electric, must play a role in promoting and enabling global sustainability actions. Their role extends to inspiring and supporting various sectors, including governments, societies, academia, and businesses, to accelerate their efforts towards sustainability.
As Schneider Electric gears up to participate in COP28, their commitment to spearheading innovative, inclusive, and collective climate action stands as a beacon of hope. Their multifaceted approach, spanning technological advancement, partnership expansions, and advocacy for widespread change, underscores the imperative of unified efforts toward a sustainable future. As the world looks ahead, Schneider Electric remains steadfast in its mission, urging collaboration, inspiring action, and leading by example to catalyze a global shift towards a more sustainable and equitable tomorrow.
